Haneen Alqatanani - Jordanian Diaspora

Haneen Alqatanani - Jordanian Diaspora

Diaspora  is the movement of indigenous peoples, or a population of a common background that lives in a place different than its homeland. Diaspora can be voluntary or forced, and usually the movement into a place far from the home region.

As I am a Jordanian citizen who lives in the United Arab Emirates, I find the atmosphere here very nice. The people who live here are loving and respectful. I was not involved in any activities that have to do with my Diaspora, but as soon as I joined AUD, I joined the Jordanian club and I felt so close to my home country.
Searching through different websites and articles I was able to find some interesting information about my Diaspora.
Petra- Jordan
The First website is really interesting, especially for Jordanians who are outside Jordan. It includes Jordan Youth Forum; in which the youth can raise any doubts or questions and discuss it among each other. It also has Jordanian Jokes, series, programs, Jordanian animations, English and Arabic movies. A very significant thing about the website is that it has a separated section about "Jordanian Tribes", at which every person can write the name of his or her own tribe and find people who happen to be their relatives.

Addustour
This Second website provides an updated, day by day news teller about Jordan. Al-Dustour is a news paper
published daily in Jordan as well as it is available online. Furthermore, it is very good for Jordanians who live outside Jordan; it helps them to stay connected and updated. Having it online is great because many people outside Jordan would find it really hard to get access to the Jordanians news papers. It has various sections, news, sports, art, and economies and it provides the exchange rate for the Jordanian Dinar.

The last and best website of them all, for me, is Aramram. It sheds light on the integration of the Jordanian society and allows them to displays their talents and special abilities even if they were overseas. Aramram's great benefit is that it supports creativity and innovation. Jordanians from all over the world can upload their works and get a feedback from professionals.

  1. its a great idea to start your blog with defining the term you want to discus:). what if you include the dates when the Jordanians left their own homeland and how did that affect them? :) Sana Nader
